“The Ahepa family Charitable Foundation of Canada (AFCFC) mirrors the mission statement of the entire AHEPA Family; which is to promote Hellenism, Philanthropy, Education, Civic Responsibility; family & Individual Excellence. As the primary philanthropic arm of the Ahepa family in Canada, the AFCFC serves the membership by assisting in fundraising efforts, promoting and awarding scholarship, as well as being a point for grants and donations to be used across Canada.

2020 AFCFC SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS

    AFCFC SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS Emmanuel Papadatos from Montreal, Quebec is the recipient of the Aroutzides Family Engineering Scholarship of $2000 for 2020.
    Emmanuel is currently in his 4th year, pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering at McGill University. He is a member of the McGill Formula electric team which assembles a Formula 1-style car and competes with other universities from around the world. Composite materials will be his study focus in his 4th year. He has been on the Dean’s Honor list at McGill University and Vanier College. As an avid sports fan he plays many team sports and has been an assistant coach for a youth hockey team. Writing is one of his hobbies and he has had some of his sports articles published in his high school magazine and in a local Greek newspaper. He is a music fan and plays the piano and a Cretan Laouto. As an active member of the Cretan Association of Montreal, he has been active in the youth and dance groups sharing his Cretan Heritage.
    AFCFC SCHOLARSHIP WINNERSElena Aivaliklis from Laval, Quebec is the recipient of the Dr. Dimitriadis Memorial Medical Scholarship of $2000 and the Katsepontes Family Law or Medicine Scholarship of $1500 for 2020.
    Elena is enrolled in the Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry program at McGill University and has a previous Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. She is a research assistant and a researcher and a speaker related to her work as a dentistry student. team. One of Elena’s main goals is to spread awareness about the importance of preventative care and she intends to continue to engage in community outreach initiatives.
    Her volunteer work serves the community; projects such as The Friendship Circle Tooth Fairies Project, McGill Dentistry Gives Back, Oral Health Total Health Sharing Smiles Day, and workshops promoting health careers to High School students and those in underrepresented communities. Her extracurricular activities and hobbies include the McGill Dental Practice Management Club, the Alpha Omega International Dental Society. She has taken dance, plays the violin and is a Bronze Cross certified swimmer.
